10 Sep Metro Vancouver Transit Referendum
The Province of British Columbia has committed to a referendum asking the public to approve transportation investment in the Metro Vancouver region. The anticipated date for a vote is the spring of 2015. The outcome of the referendum is important for the DVA, as the MetroCore area is facing increasing challenges regarding traffic, transit, and delivery of goods and services. The functionality and health of the Vancouver region—and the MetroCore area in particular—depends on sustainable infrastructure, of which a key component is ‘access to mobility’ of which a key component is transit funding.
The DVA’s objective of advocating for sustainable city-making in Vancouver’s MetroCore supports a more connected region, accomplished via thoughtful investments in transit infrastructure.
